About this ledger

The Greenbar Ledger is hand-kept on the same continuous-form paper a working bookkeeper would have reached for in 1962 — pale-green and cream rows, a single ruled column for the section, a single ruled column for the date a line was first logged. Every entry is one line, in the keeper's hand, dated on the day it was first logged.

We do not run categories as a wall of cards because that is not how a ledger works. The page is one table. The filter chips at the top change which lines are visible; they do not change the layout, the typography or the order. The order is the order of logging. New lines fall in at the top of the table, older lines settle to the bottom, and the running entry count at the masthead is what it was when the page was rendered.

Listing is free. Pasting a URL in the form on /add.php logs a line. The keeper will fetch the description from the page itself if the field is left blank, and the row is on the paper the instant the form is submitted. There is no review queue and no listing fee — the ledger pays for itself by being narrow in scope and being honest about what is on it.

Notes from the keeper

What is the Greenbar Ledger?
It is a hand-kept, continuous-form catalogue of 833 working websites, laid out as one wide ledger table across 22 sections. The home page is a single table, not a grid of cards, and the section column tells you which row belongs where.
Is logging a site really free?
Yes — listing is free, it has been free since the first line went on the paper, and there is no plan to charge. There is no pay-to-rank slot, no featured row, no "top ten".
How long does a line take to appear?
A line is on the paper the moment the form returns. There is no review queue. The keeper will fetch the description from the page itself in the background if you leave that field blank.
How does the section column work?
Every line is logged to one of 22 sections. Click a chip at the top of the ledger to filter the table to that section, or open the section's own page to see the keeper's notes for it underneath the rows.
What kind of sites get a line?
Working trade pages and working purpose pages. A salon's own page, a builder's own page, a clinic's own page, a paper's own masthead. We do not log affiliate microsites, parked landing pages, redirect chains, or aggregators that just mirror another directory.
Can I log more than one site?
Yes — log each site as its own line. One site, one line, on the section that matches the trade. The same domain cannot be logged twice; the database refuses duplicates by design.
My site was rejected — what happened?
Either the page was not running (parked, redirect, dead), or it did not actually trade in the section it was submitted to, or the same domain already had a line. The form will tell you which.
Why are the rows green and cream?
That is the colour of continuous-form ledger paper, the kind a bookkeeper used to feed through a tractor-fed printer. The rows alternate to keep the eye on the line; the sepia hairline rule appears every fifth row to break a long page.
Do you keep my email?
If you provide an email on the log-a-site form, it is stored against the submission for the keeper's records and is not published, sold, or used for outreach.
Can I have a line removed?
Yes — write to the keeper from a contact email on the site itself, asking for the line to be struck. The keeper strikes lines when the trader behind the site asks; the ledger is more useful when it is honest.
